КОНТРОЛЬНАЯ РАБОТА ПО АНГЛИЙСКОМУ ЯЗЫКУ

 

I. Напишите следующие английские существительные в единственном числе:

forms, duties, sportsmen, feet.

 

II. Перепишите предложения из контрольной работы  и переведите их. Подчеркните существительные в притяжательном падеже:

1. My sister’s friend prefers cola to beer.

2. Jane often uses her brother’s things.

3. Mr. and Ms. Brown’s children do not often come to see their parents.

 

III. Поставьте в скобках личные английские местоимения. Перепишите и переведите предложения контрольной:

1. Does (она) like to read?

2. (Мы) go to the office by tram.

3. (Они) do not usually ask a lot of questions.

 

IV. Поставьте в скобках притяжательные английские местоимения контрольной работы. Перепишите и переведите предложения:

VI. Перепишите и переведите следующие английские предложения, помните, как переводятся существительные на русский язык:

1. Sometimes our newspaper conducts an opinion poll.

 There are 50 different registration laws in the USA - one law for each state.

 

VII. Перепишите предложения контрольной работы по английскому языку. Укажите, какую функцию выполняет -s:

а) глагол в 3-м лице ед. ч. настоящего времени;

б) существительное во множественном числе;

в) существительное в притяжательном падеже.

 

Переведите предложения:

1. Paul helps his groupmates with English.

2. Betty’s father sometimes plays chess with my grandfather.

3. My friends like to have a cup of coffee with some ice-cream.

 

VIII. Перепишите предложения, содержащие разные формы сравнения, и переведите их с английского языка:

1. The cottage where my cousins live now is more beautiful and comfortable than their old house.

2. The article is as difficult as the preface to it.

3. The more you practise in English, the better you know it.

 

IX. Перепишите и переведите предложения, обращая внимание на конструкцию there is /are:

1. There is a two-party system in the USA.

2. There are about 50,000 solicitors in England and Wales and they make up the largest branch of the legal profession.

3. Is there any separate training for judges in England?

 

X. Подчеркните глагол to be в соответствующей форме. Перепишите и переведите с английского языка предложения:

1. England is unique as it has two different kinds of lawyers.

2. The functions of Parliament are to make laws, to provide money for the government, to debate political questions and to examine government policy.

3. The Queen and her family are a symbol of the country.

 

 

XI. Перепишите предложения, подчеркните глагол-сказуемое в настоящем времени, переведите предложения:

1. The Constitution limits the federal government to specific powers.

 To appeal means to take a case to a higher court.

 

Образуйте прошедшее время:

to represent;  to conduct; to remove;  to limit;

to undertake;  to have; to find;  to keep.

The role of the monarchy.
    The age of democracy has not produced any significant revolutionary movement in Britain. The monarchy survives but has no power and does not want any Parliament to establish its rights.
    Great Britain is a constitutional monarchy. The Parliament limits the power of the Queen. But the real strong power is in the hands of the great trusts and bancs and a very small section of rich property owners. They have under control the land, industry, finance, trade, armed forces, police, judiciary and mass media. The Monarchy is used by the ruling class as an ideological weapon of maintaining the stability of the regime.
    The Queen Elizabeth II was born in London on April 21, 1926. She was crowned at Westminster on the 2nd of June in 1953. She was the sixth Queen Regnant of Britain and second of her name. She reigns but does not rule, although the Queen is very rich woman in the world. The powers of the Queen are nowhere exactly defined.
    Theoretically every act of the state is done in the name of the Queen; every letter sent out by any government department is posted in an envelope marked “On Her Majesty’s Service”. All ministers in the Government are appointed by her. Only the Queen can summon Parliament, or dissolve it. In the law the Queen is the Head of the Executive, the Legislative and the Judiciary. Laws passed by two Houses do not become affective until she has signed them. But in reality everything that she does is done “on advice of her ministers”.
    Today the Queen is also temporal head of the Church of England, the head of the Commonwealth, the commander-in-chief of all the armed forces of the Crown and an important symbol of national unity.
